Off Season
As “winter” winds down here on the West Coast of Canada, my focus starts to change to the upcoming cycling, skateboarding, and automotive related events and activities that will keep my schedule full for the Spring and Summer seasons. I am very much looking forward to it.
One thing I find myself taking the time to do during my “Off Season” is getting out in nature, slowing things down and working on my composition. If anything, nature, or landscape style photography, can really teach you how to compose an image. When we go out with our cameras and look around us, it can be a bit overwhelming looking over a vast mountain range and trying to select the best, or most “photogenic” aspect to capture, or when we’re deep in a forest, surrounded by lush greens to try and pick out the best scenery to shoot. Slowing things down, and taking the time to really look for the right angles, the right crop, or the right light is a great way to hone your skills when you are preparing to shoot fast moving stuff. At least, for me it is.
This past winter, I found myself in a few areas of the Greater Vancouver area that offer up some really great photo opportunites, so here are a few photos that I’m pretty happy with.
Enjoy.
